Chief Executive Officer

Rosemary Mkok, MBS is a lawyer by profession and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi and an MBA Degree from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). She was employed with the Kenya Sugar Board in 1995 as the Company Secretary; she served in that capacity for 13 years before she was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2008.

She is a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) and holds a Post graduate Diploma in Legal studies from the Kenya School of Law. Rosemary is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the Law Society of Kenya, Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and Commonwealth Lawyers Association.

Through her experience in the industry, she has been able to steer the sugar sector to increased productivity through increased efficiency and capacity expansion.

Heads of Department

Mr. Andrew Osodo - Company Secretary

He holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Nairobi, and MBA Degree in Strategic Management. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Kenya (ICPAK) and an Advocate of the High Court and has a long experience in the legal profession.

Mr. Frederick Kebeney - Head of Agriculture

Fredrick Kiplagat Kebeney is a trained Agriculturalist with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and specialized in sugarcane agronomy. He joined the Board in 1995 initially as an Extension Officer, steadily rising through the ranks to the current position. Over the period, he has gained enormous experience in all aspects related to sugarcane production, both at policy and technical levels. The notable technical achievements include, the provision of leadership in sugarcane suitability studies in the Tana basin, Kerio Valley, Kwale, the overall potential of growing cane growing in thewider South Nyanza zone etc.

Mr. Thomas Makeni - Head of Finance

He holds an MBA from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration from United States International University, Certificate in Corporate Governance, Certificate in Structuring Finance Support for Small and medium Business Enterprises Development – Negev Institute of Strategy, Peach and Economic Development (Negev University Israel) Certificate in  Financial Management for Financial Institutions – ESAMI. Before joining Kenya Sugar Board he worked with the Industrial Development Bank Limited as the Financial Controller; Aga Khan Hospital, Agricultural Development Corporation,National Housing Corporation, United Distillers and Venture a subsidiary of Grand Metropolitan of U.K and Kenya Airways. He joined Kenya Sugar Board in 2004 as the Head of Finance.

Ms. Emma Malinda - Head of Internal Audit

She holds an MBA from East and Southern Management Institute (ESAMI) & Maastricht Institute (Netherlands). She is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Registration of Accountants Board (RAB). She has a long experience as an Auditor. Previously she worked for Kenya Reinsurance Corporation.

Patricia Njeru - Head of Planning

Patricia holds a Master of Economics in Agricultural Economics. She holds a Diploma in resource Economics from University of New England New South Wales, Austrialia. She is also a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the Egerton University, Njoro. Previously she worked for the Ministry of Agriculture Livestock Development and Marketing, Machakos and Trans Nzoia Districts and Kenya Tea Development Authority before joining the Kenya Sugar Authority as Economist and rising steadily to the position of Head of Planning in 2006.

Mr. Solomon Odera - Sugar Development Fund Manager

He holds a BSc. Business Administration, major in Accounting & Financial Management from Unites States International University (USIU). He worked for Kenya Management Assistance Program (K-MAP) as a Business Consultant, Management Decision Information (MDI) as a Financial Consultant and as a Branch Accountant of the National Bank of Kenya. He is a member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).

Mr Francis Ingara - Head of Sugar Technology & Engineering

He holds a Bachelor of Science – Civil Engineer from University of Nairobi., MSc. Construction from Loughbourough University of Technology (UK). He is a member of the Engineers Registration Board. Previously, he worked for Ministry of Public Works, Structural Department before joining Kenya Sugar Authority as a Civil Engineer in 1994. He has risen through the ranks to the current position of Head of Sugar Technology and Engineering.

Mr Peter Lukoye - Human Resources Manager

Mr. Lukoye holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Economics from the University of Nairobi. From October 1987, he served in the Kenya Power and Lighting Company as Personnel Officer in charge of Coast Province. He was promoted to Area Personnel Officer (Hydros) from 1st December 1991 to February 1993. and was taken to Seven Forks Station (Kamburu, Masinga, Kiambere, Gitaru, Tana and Kindaruma). He joined Firestone E.A. Ltd in the same year as Industrial Relations Officer. In 1994, he joined Care International as Personnel Officer in Dadaab Refugees’ Camps. In 1995 he joined Kenya Sugar Board as Senior Personnel Officer. He was re-designated Deputy Human Resources Manager in 1997 and Acting Human Resources Manager in February 2005. In the year 2006, he was promoted to Human Resources Manager.

Ms. Christine Chesaro - Public Relations Officer

She holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from United States International University (USIU). Bachelor of Arts (French & History) from Kenyatta University and Diploma in Public Relations Management from Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). She joined the defunct KSA in 1999 as an Asst. Public Relations Officer steadily rising to the current position
