Information Technology

The ICT department is where the Board's sound ICT policies are formulated and implemented towards the achievement of the overall goals of the organization.

It is the Aim of the Information & Communication Technology Section to ensure that all employees develop an Information Technology Capability. This is more than simply being good at using the computer and other related gadgets. The acquisition of I.C.T. capability consists of four aspects:

  • Knowledge about the application and use of the various I.C.T. Tools.
  • Skills to use these tools effectively.
  • Understanding of the opportunities that Information & Communication Technology can provide.
  • Appreciation of the effects and limitations of I.C.T.

The ICT department is also responsible for;

  • Proper custody of ICT assets
  • Formulation and implement the Board's ICT policies¬†

Roles

  • To develop an appreciation of the range of applications of I.C.T.
  • To develop an understanding of the contribution that I.C.T. can make to solving problems in a systematic and methodical manner.
  • To develop Information Technology Capability.
  • To develop an awareness of the importance, implications and limitations of computers and Information¬† Technology tools in within the working environment.
  • To assist staff become I.C.T. capable, by helping to identify needs and imparting the skills required.

Structure

ICT Manager: Responsible for developing and facilitating the implementation of efficient and effective ICT strategies, policies and systems for the organization.

Systems Assistant: Responsible for facilitating the efficient and effective performance of information technology systems and infrastructure.

ICT Technician: Responsible for providing technical support to ICT users and ensure efficient utilization of facilities.
