Corporate Social Responsibility at The Kenya Sugar Board

The Board pays a courtesy call to Simbi Luora Primary School during its industry tour

Social Responsibility is one of the core values of the Kenya Sugar Board and as such, we are committed to giving back to the community in line with the national development strategies. Kenya Sugar Board’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy is driven by the need to preserve the environment, and promote socio-economic development through sponsorship and participation in activities that enhance the livelihood of other members of the society.

For the Kenya Sugar Board, it also means a commitment to integrate responsible practices into daily business operations, monitor and evaluate progress made and achievements gained through the implementation of these practices. In the course of the financial year 2012/2013, the Board supported six dispensaries in western Kenya who had requested for delivery beds and installation of electricity for those which do not have electricity yet. These include:

  • Ematiha Dispensary
  • Friends Vuyika Kabras Dispensary
  • Kamasai Dispensary
  • Ingolomosio Dispensary
  • Kibuke Dispensary
  • Machwele Friends Dispensary

Towards the cause of Education, the Board is in the process of constructing a classroom at Simbi Luora Primary School in Nyando area. We also supported Kipturi Primary School in Soin - Kericho with a donation that would enable them complete a classroom. We did not forget to reach out to our neighboring school at Kangemi under the Christian Women Care Group, where we made donations of foodstuff, clothing, contributed by our staff and a token from the organization.
